Day 14 – Praising God Together

We all stood as the band played the first few chords, and the song words appeared on the screen above.  By the time we got to the second verse, I again noticed my fingers fumbling with the clunky ring I wore as a reminder that Jesus was there with me—yesterday’s Connection exercise.

Our voices got louder as we sang the chorus, praising Jesus.

If Jesus were here—and he is—where would he be? I glanced at the empty chair next to me.

Two people in front of me lifted their hands as they sang.

No, he wouldn’t be sitting next to me today. He would be up front. We’re all praising him.

With everyone standing, my view of center stage was blocked, so I imagined the actual flesh and blood Jesus standing by the podium just out of my sight.

When the chorus came round again, I noticed myself standing stiff. But if Jesus was really up there, wouldn’t I want to show him my love by raising my hand too?

I raised my hand up, and then straightened my elbow to lift it higher. My heart exclaimed, “I love you, I praise you, I honor you Jesus. Thank you so much for being with us here.”??????????????????

This 21 Day Connection Challenge is really helping me feel closer to Jesus. I’m excited to head into the last official week.

Below is tomorrow’s “Connection Challenge” exercise:

Premise: To receive God’s power and peace in my life, I need to be connected to Jesus (John 15:4-5).

Guidelines: For 21 days, my only goal will be to connect with Jesus throughout each day. I can also do any other activity if I can do it with Jesus.

Connection Aid: Day 15, Monday January 20: Give Thanks that God is in Control

Proverbs 19: 21 says that man makes plans, but God’s purpose will prevail. Throughout this day, I will connect with God by thanking him for being Sovereign—in control of my life and the world.
